I’ve got someone who wants me to detail their Lexus sedan before they trade it in to get a new 2016 Subie Outback and I was wondering if they are any good but I don’t have time to research them since I’m overly busy so I was hoping someone on here could share any experience they have with them. Thanks guys!!

M-B-W has a ‘15 and he loves it, but he’s also 18 and now a Subaru brand ambassador.
I drive them regularly for work and they’re quiet, smooth, and spacious. I’d like one. The CVT isn’t bad, and they’re really refined. Look better than the 10-14 models too.

I’ll put it this way...you know how the Miata is “the answer” for Jalops because it “works” in almost any scenario, the Outback is “the answer” for everyone else. Safe- check, good MPGs- check, nice ride- check, family friendly- check, stylish- check (especially the new one), reasonably priced- check.....I can go on and on. For your average person this car does pretty much everything really well, it is the ultimate swiss army knife car.

It’s good. Very practical, good MPG’s, and they’re the Japanese equivalent of a Volvo 240 in regards to safety.

Thanks for the input! I'll make sure to pass it on to him!

Awesome! The way you put it makes a lot of sense. He’s not a car guy, and he probably wouldn’t want a Miata, so Outback should be a good option for him it sounds like!

Thanks for the input! It sounds like the general consensus is quite positive!

Whitetrashsteve basically said what I was going to say. It's really a great car.

Outbacks are great and you could call them a Swiss Army knife car, but not THE Swiss Army knife car. I’d say the GTI for that because it’s a little more “enthusiast-y”.
Edit: dunno how but I totally forgot you have a GTI, so there's that

From an enthusiast perspective...I totally agree and that is why I bought mine. From your “average car” buyer perspective the Outback is it.

For someone who’s well informed but not quite an enthusiast, the Outback is the way to go. For people who think cars are an appliance, Camry. But no doubt GTI for enthusiasts.

Tested one a while back ... everything good except for the base engine ... needs about 30 more HP/50 more lb-ft. of torque.

no dramas with them yet.
